Born in Bamako, Mali |

After graduating from high school in Bamako, Mamadou came to Toronto to obtain his Bachelor of Commerce in International Business at Humber School of Business.

“Toronto is a multicultural city where no one in the world can feel lost.”

It is for this reason that he plans on staying here after graduation next year.

Toronto as Home

On his way home Mamadou always passes by The Big Guy’s Little Coffee Shop on Lakeshore, a place owned by a friendly South African gentleman. The painted portraits on the wall remind him of Malian kings of the past – a visual comfort he appreciates having in his neighbourhood.

Connection with the Past

Mamadou explains how Mali has just suffered through a period of heightened conflict, and he longs for peace in the land where he was born. He wanted to hold something, with his girlfriend Kadiatou, that demonstrates this desire. Mamadou hopes Malians around the world can continue to promote unity and nonviolence.
